400 km challenge by Ren� Parent well met!
Well met, but not without having to endure rain for 18 days. During my 22-day trail hike 75% more rain than usual deluged the Northeastern United States. Day after day relentless downpours turned dirt paths into a muddy mess. My boots flooded, my equipment was drenched� torrential rain made an already arduous hike even tougher. Fortunately, innumerable messages of encouragement fuelled my motivation, inspiring me to persevere and complete the walk.
I was agreeably surprised by all the support I received from family, friends and colleagues, and also from the media and community. It is with pride that I am able to announce having collected a total of $10,000, a sum far beyond my expectations. These funds were divided between two organizations and presented to representatives of both The Kidney Foundation of Canada and the Arthritis Society.
Knowing this project sensitizes people to kidney and arthritis problems I can assert that our shared goal is achieved!
Your financial support advances scientific research which is essential for the development of new strategies to fight these diseases. Thanks to your contributions we will improve in a very real way the fate of the many who are afflicted.
